Etched In Adventure

“At the end of the day it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished, it’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better, it’s about what you’ve given back.”

My Colombia Photo Diary

June 22, 2021 by etchedinadventure

Why did I visit Colombia? The country didn’t require a coronavirus test or vaccination, didn’t have a quarantine or curfew, and my buddy had just opened up a bar in Guatape, Colombia, two hours from Medellin, and was looking for investors. I had taught myself investing during quarantine and took advantage of the crypto bull market to have my total wealth in the six-figures for the first time in my life. Therefore, I figured why not? However, in the end, […]

Life Quarantined in Cuzco, Peru: Part Two

May 24, 2020 by etchedinadventure

I’ve been in quarantine going on ten weeks now with the President of Peru just announcing that he is extending the state of emergency for another five weeks. The only big difference with quarantine is that select restaurants are allowed to open for pickup and delivery. For me, I find it a bit pathetic to complain about being bored in quarantine as there are people who are losing their businesses, losing their homes, and losing their lives all over the […]

Life Quarantined in Cusco, Peru

April 29, 2020 by etchedinadventure

What’s life like in Peru? Frankly, it’s not that bad from where I’m sitting. Peru’s president made an announcement that he was going to lock down the entire country in twenty-four hours and commence a quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic, and boy did he follow through. When he was met with resistance, he enacted martial law which put the government in control and created a curfew which is currently from 5am-6pm throughout the majority of Peru, with no one […]

Things to Know Before Going to Cusco

April 2, 2020 by etchedinadventure

1. Stray dogs are everywhere. Overall, most seem in relatively good shape besides long-haired ones needing a grooming. In many countries, stray dogs are seen as pests because they crap on the sidewalk, go through everyone’s trash, or beg at markets or restaurants with outdoor seating. However, here, it seems they are just a part of normal, everyday life. Similar to my Florida life in how we have deer, squirrels, and Sandhill cranes everywhere and we don’t pay much attention […]

My Costa Rica Bucket List

December 27, 2019 by etchedinadventure

Costa Rica was originally supposed to be my senior trip back in 2009, but not enough students in my graduating class wanted to go and so the trip never happened. Frankly, going as an adult ten years later was indefinitely a better idea as I had the freedom and life experience to do it the right way as opposed to just going on tours with chaperones and staying in touristy hotels. Costa Rica is a country where you can do […]

My Guatemala Bucket List

November 20, 2019 by etchedinadventure

Why did I go to Guatemala? Because I wanted to find the beauty in the countries that most people would either fly over or stay in a luxury hotel on the beach or lake their entire stay. I wanted to meet locals, eat local, drink local, and see all the hidden gems Guatemala had to offer. I wanted to immerse myself in their culture and another way of living. In simpler terms, I wanted to become more cultured.     […]
