Etched In Adventure

“At the end of the day it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished, it’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better, it’s about what you’ve given back.”

Travel Hack: Quick Tips For The Novice Traveler

March 15, 2016 by etchedinadventure

1. Check-in to your flights online to save a long, unnecessary wait at the airport. Nearly all airlines have a mobile app you can download for free. 2. Carry your wallet and phone in your front pockets, better safe than sorry. 3. Turn off your mobile data to avoid a costly bill, unless you’re one of those lucky sons of guns who has an unlimited date plan – I envy you. 4. Pack small, reliable headphones, you will always use them. 5. […]

Bar Manners 101

March 3, 2016 by etchedinadventure

I’ve recently learned I’m not the most cultured of people. My Irish friends have to slow down when speaking to me, my New Zealand friends need to translate what fizzy drinks are and how kiwi is not a fruit to them, and my Jamaican friends have to explain that Captain Morgan is well rum to them. In the U.S. I’ve learned that travelers lack the same cultural understanding, allow me to enlighten you good people. How to Talk to Your Bartender: Do’s & Don’ts […]

Pit Stop in St. Augustine, Florida

February 14, 2016 by etchedinadventure

Just over an hour drive from Orlando, St. Augustine, Florida is small. So small that getting around on foot is too easy. Take advantage of the free street parking, wear comfortable shoes, and get lost in the art, history, and quaintness of this small town!     WHAT TO SEE & WHERE TO EAT:     Make sure to stop by Flagler college’s main campus which is well-known for originally being a huge, high-end hotel!   This town has blocks of art galleries, museums, specialty […]

A Dozen Apps for the Journeyman Traveler

1. For help with money management try Mint. For free they put all your banking accounts in an all-in-one perspective, create a budget for bills, and track your spending. In addition they’ll form a progress report on what you want to save for then break it all down through charts and graphs so you can see reports on your disposable income as well as a load of quick tips to help you make your financial goals. 2. For help with locations Google Maps is an app I have found that works even if […]

Savannah: A Barman’s Leisure

February 11, 2016 by etchedinadventure

What is Savannah known for? History, haunted houses, and cheap booze. So sightseeing and museum touring during the day and drinking Jamesons at night and getting a pint of Guinness to go for a whopping $6 is the embodiment of a day off for me. There’s literally alcohol available at every block in midtown as well as the historic and Victorian district. Happy hour is dirt cheap, budgeting $50 a day on booze, not including tip, will either get you black out drunk or […]
